Mentor Expectations

People entering into a mentoring relationship with an Imagine the Impact participant are asked to adhere to the following expectations. Mentors are expected to. . .

  1. Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Be a maturing follower of Christ possessing godly values and habits honoring to Him.
  3. Regularly attend a local church, not necessarily the church of the participant.
  4. Mentor’s are expected to not be a relative of the participant.
  5. Be willing to go through background checks and sign the Imagine the Impact student security policy.
  6. Possess a positive attitude, enjoy connecting with high school students and be a minimum of twenty-five years of age.
  7. Attend two training sessions and the two scheduled conference calls.
  8. Connect, in a face to face manor, with the participant two times per month for at least one hour. Participants are responsible for scheduling these gatherings, but Mentors are responsible for follow up if this does not happen.
  9. Make weekly contact with the participant by phone, e-mail, IM, or mail.
  10. Participate in a 15-20 minute phone call once a month with the "Mentor’s Mentor", a person assigned to follow up with and support you. This call will serve as an opportunity for sharing victories, concerns, prayer points and allow for coaching to occur.
  11. Experience personal growth as a result of the mentoring process.
